We represent the interests of snow sports instructors in training, qualified professionals, and snow sports schools, and are committed to providing the best possible education.

Actively shaping snowboarding and skiing – This is our passion and we have decades of experience.

From 1985 to Today

  • 1985 – Foundation of the snowboard instructor movement in Switzerland with eleven founding members in Saas-Fee.
  • 1988 – SSBS separates from SSBA and establishes its own statutes.
  • 1989 – Training courses expand from a single 10-day program to two separate courses plus an avalanche course. SSBS receives mandate to introduce snowboarding as a sport discipline in J+S.
  • 1992 – Federal court rules in favor of independent snowboard schools.
  • 1996 – Ridersystem launches – over 100 Swiss snowboard schools adopt it.
  • 1997 – General assembly votes against joining SIVS; SSBS remains independent.
  • 2005 – Federal professional diploma "Snow Sports Instructor" becomes reality.
  • 2008 – Seventh teaching material published, wins third prize at Frankfurt Book Fair.
  • 2017 – Ski teaching material created.
  • 2020 – SSBS certifications recognized as equivalent to federal diploma.
  • 2021 – Ski material translated to English; English-language ski instruction offered.
  • 2023 – Snowboard material translated to English; English-language snowboard instruction offered.
