Just finished school and want to spend a gap year in the snow? Or looking for a way to turn your hobby into a career? Then you're in the right place.

SSBS has been training snowboard instructors since 1985. We accompany you from your first course to your instructor certificate – and beyond.

Training Path

From Rookie Course to Instructor Certificate

Your training starts with the 5-day Rookie course. Then you gain practical experience at a ski and snowboard school and complete further modules – flexibly and at your own pace.

Requirements

What You Should Bring

You don't need to be a pro – but a few basics will help you get started.

At least 17 years old.
You ride safely on red and black slopes and master various snow conditions.
You speak German, French or English. Our courses are offered in all three languages.
You enjoy snowboarding and want to work with people. No prior pedagogical knowledge required.

The Rookie course starts at CHF 890. You book the further modules individually – so you invest step by step. For the complete training up to the instructor certificate, you can expect a few thousand francs. You can find all prices in the course overview.
You should be able to ride safely on red and black slopes and handle various snow conditions. You don't need to be a pro – you'll get the finishing touches in the course. Unsure? Contact us for a non-binding consultation.
Our courses are offered in German, French and English. You choose the language that suits you best.
The Rookie course lasts 5 days. You can complete the entire training up to the instructor certificate in one season – or spread it flexibly over several winters. You determine the pace.
Yes! Already after the Rookie course, you can gain your first experience as a Rookie Coach in a ski and snowboard school. Through our job portal, you'll find seasonal positions throughout Switzerland.
Both are paths available to you after completing your instructor certification. The RiskG permit (risk activity permit) is the highest qualification and authorizes you to lead groups in off-piste terrain – ideal for freeride enthusiasts. The federal certificate for snow sports instructors is a state-recognized professional degree focused on pedagogy and management. You decide which path suits you.
