With the Rookie Coach course, you start your training as a ski instructor – simple and straightforward.

SKI Rookie Coach – 2 Days

Online theory course

  • Content: Theoretical knowledge about ski instruction, level assessment
  • Prerequisites: from 17th birthday
  • Certification: SKI Rookie Coach Certificate

In Level 2, you learn everything for intermediate instruction. You deepen your technique and methodology and learn to teach intermediate students safely and professionally.

SKI Candidate 1 (Part 1) – 6 Days

  • Content: Technique & jump training, expert instruction, theory exam
  • Prerequisites: SKI Rookie Coach (Level 1 completion), valid first aid certificate, 18th birthday in course year

SKI Candidate 2 (Part 2) – 9 Days

  • Content: Technique & jump training, expert instruction, theory exam, foreign language exam
  • Prerequisites: SKI Candidate 1 completion (Level 2, Part 1)

Teaching at the highest level as an SSBS Instructor. After your certification, you are a Swiss Ski Instructor qualified for the piste area.

SKI Instructor – 4 Days

  • Content: Technique and jump training, final exam in technique, instruction, and specialized knowledge
  • Prerequisites: SKI Candidate Part 2 completion, first responder certificate, rights and duties, internship P1 + P2
  • Certification: SSBS Ski Instructor Diploma

Certification: SSBS Instructor

  • Swiss Ski Instructor
  • Qualification for piste area
  • 26 course days / 80 internship days over 2-3 seasons

In addition to the Level 1-3 courses, the following required modules and internships are part of the training:

First Aid Course – External, min. 10 hours

External course attendance. Prerequisite for Candidate 1 (Level 2).

First Responder Level 1 IVT – External, min. 14 hours

External course for official first aid certification. Prerequisite for BC Basic.

Freeride – BC Basic – 4 Days

  • Content: Avalanche science, theory exam, transceiver search, planning exam
  • Prerequisites: SKI Candidate Part 2 completion, valid First Responder Level 1 IVT certificate
  • Important: Prerequisite for SKI Instructor (Level 3)

Rights & Duties – 1 Day

  • Content: Rights/duties, laws/regulations, customer protection
  • Qualification: Positive if fully attended
  • Important: Prerequisite for SKI Instructor (Level 3)

SKI Internship P1 – 40 Days / 120 Hours

Commercial teaching experience at a snow sports school. Prerequisite for SKI Instructor (Level 3).

SKI Internship P2 – 40 Days / 120 Hours

Additional commercial teaching experience. Prerequisite for SKI Instructor (Level 3).

The fastest way to RiskG authorization! As an SSBS Instructor, you can begin RiskG training. This is required for teaching in permit-required terrain (off-piste, touring).

Freeride & Touring BC Specialist 1 – 5 Days

  • Content: Avalanche science, transceiver search, tour planning with ascents, level assessment
  • Prerequisites: BC Basic completion, 1 season experience recommended, SKI Level 2 completion

Off-Piste Internship – 5 Days

Planning and tour leadership experiences in permit-required terrain.

Freeride & Touring BC Specialist 2 (RiskG) – 5 Days

  • Content: Planning and conducting tours, practical exam
  • Prerequisites: BC Specialist 1 completion, off-piste internship and 1 year experience, SSBS Instructor completion

Certification: Instructor with RiskG

  • Authorization for off-piste permit
  • Qualification for off-piste in permit-required terrain
  • 36 course days / 125 internship days over 3-4 seasons
